Weatherford, OK – A Weatherford woman faces a felony charge and two misdemeanor charges following an incident late Wednesday night.

Marissa Gayle Sharp has been charged in Custer County District Court with felony assault and battery on a police officer, along with misdemeanor counts of threatening to perform an act of violence and obstructing an officer. The charges were filed Sept. 25.

According to court documents, the incident occurred at approximately 10:16 p.m. Sept. 23 in the 400 block of North Custer in Weatherford.

Prosecutors allege Sharp lunged at and kicked at a police officer and grabbed the officer's genitals with the intent to cause injury while the officer was performing official duties. The felony charge carries a possible punishment of up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $500, or both.

Sharp is also accused of threatening violence against officers during the encounter. Court documents allege she made threats of serious bodily harm or death. The charge of threatening to perform an act of violence is a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail.

The third charge alleges Sharp obstructed officers by refusing commands, twisting away, attempting to kick officers and refusing to get into a patrol vehicle. Obstructing an officer is a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail, a fine of up to $500, or both.

Court records also include a supplemental filing alleging Sharp has a prior felony conviction from October 2025 for assault and battery on an officer. Prosecutors allege that prior conviction could increase the potential punishment on the current felony charge to as much as 10 years.

Sharp is scheduled to appear in Custer County District Court on Oct. 28 at 1:30 p.m.

The charges are allegations, and Sharp is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
