Weatherford, OK – Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) has announced the establishment of a new scholarship endowment benefitting students studying in SWOSU’s College of Pharmacy (SWOSU COP).
The Craig Masterson Starks Memorial Scholarship fund has been generously created by a major gift donated by Ms. Virginia Ann Starks of Ponca City in honor of her late son, Craig Masterson Starks.
A native of Ponca City, Craig Starks was a 1985 SWOSU COP alumnus. He practiced Pharmacy in Texas and Arizona. A father of three and grandfather of five, Craig was a member of the Gold Canyon United Methodist Church. He passed away in October 2024.
The Craig Masterson Starks Memorial Scholarship will provide meaningful annual scholarship support to SWOSU COP students each academic year. These SWOSU COP students will have the honor of being recognized as “Craig Masterson Starks Memorial Scholars.”
“We are deeply honored to celebrate the life and legacy of one of our own, Craig Masterson Starks, through the stewardship and care of this incredibly thoughtful endowment gift lovingly donated by Craig’s family,” said SWOSU COP Dean Dr. Les Ramos. “Craig Starks was devoted to the highest standards of professionalism and the practice of patient-centered community pharmacy, and the scholarship that bears his name will be invaluable in helping SWOSU produce the next generation of quality, credentialed pharmacists.”
The Craig Masterson Starks Memorial Scholarship is stewarded by the SWOSU Foundation, Inc. The Foundation was established in 1977 to promote philanthropy, award scholarships, and distribute funds to support the activities and programs of SWOSU.
