Weatherford, OK – A Weatherford man faces two felony charges in Custer County following an investigation involving reports of suspected child sexual abuse material associated with a Google account.
Ethan Cole Hurt has been charged with buying, possessing or procuring child sexual abuse material, a Class B1 felony, and violation of an Oklahoma statute via computer, a Class D1 felony. Court documents allege the offenses occurred between May 26 and Sept. 11, 2026.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Custer County District Court, the investigation began after four reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children were reviewed in August. The reports originated from Google and alleged that images identified as child sexual abuse material had been uploaded through a Google Lens account in May. Investigators said the same email address was associated with all four reports.
The affidavit states investigators obtained search warrants seeking subscriber information connected to an IP address and information identifying the user of the Gmail account. Records obtained during the investigation allegedly connected the account and internet activity to a residence near Weatherford and to Hurt.
A search warrant for the residence was executed Sept. 11. According to the affidavit, Hurt was taken into custody without incident, and several electronic devices were recovered during the search.
Court records state Hurt was transported to the Custer County Jail and interviewed after being advised of his Miranda rights. According to the affidavit, Hurt allegedly admitted saving the reported images to view later and searching for additional images.
The court subsequently found sufficient probable cause existed for Hurt's arrest. Court documents list bond at $30,000.
The charges are allegations, and Hurt is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
