Oklahoma City, OK – Elk City recorded a double-digit increase in sales tax collections in September, according to the latest distribution figures from the Oklahoma Tax Commission.

The September 2026 distribution to Elk City totaled $1,538,259.60, up 11.38 percent from $1,381,068.29 during the same period last year. The collections primarily represent local sales made from July 16 through July 31 and estimated sales from August 1 through August 15.

Weatherford also posted a strong increase, receiving $1,268,883.50, up 9.44 percent from $1,159,476.73 last year. Clinton received $519,446.43, a decrease of 6.09 percent.

Elsewhere in western Oklahoma, Altus collections increased 5.71 percent to $1,220,124.36. Woodward was nearly unchanged, declining 0.22 percent to $1,178,190.31, while El Reno increased slightly by 0.04 percent to $1,144,231.01.

Results were mixed among smaller communities. Cordell received $95,181.32, an increase of 2.40 percent. Sayre fell 13.51 percent to $147,553.72, while Mangum declined 17.75 percent to $54,458.68.

Statewide, the Oklahoma Tax Commission distributed $223.7 million in sales tax collections to cities and towns, an increase of approximately $11.4 million compared with September 2025. Cities and towns also received approximately $43.4 million in use tax distributions.
