Elk City, OK – OKIE811 will host an Elk City Safety Day on Wednesday, September 16, at Western Technology Center, offering free training for excavators, facility operators, vendors and others involved in underground utility safety and damage prevention.
The event begins with check-in at 8 a.m. at Western Technology Center, 301 Western Drive in Elk City. Training begins at 8:30 a.m. with an OKIE811 certification course covering safe excavation practices, Oklahoma's Underground Facilities Damage Prevention Act and procedures designed to prevent accidental damage to underground utilities. Participants seeking certification must pass a 25-question test with a score of at least 80%.
Additional sessions throughout the day will cover professional line locating, Oklahoma Corporation Commission damage prevention efforts, excavation and trenching safety, and confined space safety. Facility operators may earn up to eight Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality continuing education credits for attending.
Lunch will be provided free by OKIE811. Attendees are encouraged to register by September 11 to ensure they receive a lunch ticket. Registration for Safety Day is free and also includes opportunities to network with industry professionals and win door prizes.
The event concludes at 4:30 p.m. with a closing safety message and door prize drawings.
