Sayre, OK – The Beckham County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about an ongoing phone scam involving individuals who are impersonating law enforcement officers.
These scammers are spoofing the Beckham County Sheriff's Office phone number, making it appear as though the call is coming directly from our office. The caller claims you have an active warrant, missed jury duty, failed to appear in court, or have another legal matter that requires immediate action. They then demand payment and threaten arrest if the money is not sent immediately.
Do not fall for this scam.
The Beckham County Sheriff's Office will never call you to demand money, request payment to clear a warrant, or ask you to purchase gift cards, send money through payment apps, or transfer cryptocurrency to avoid arrest.
If you receive one of these calls:
Hang up immediately.
Do not provide any personal or financial information.
Do not send money.
If you have any doubts, contact the Beckham County Sheriff's Office directly using our official non-emergency phone number to verify the information.
Unfortunately, phone number spoofing allows scammers to make it appear as though they are calling from a legitimate law enforcement agency. Seeing our phone number on your caller ID does not guarantee the call is actually coming from us.
