Sayre, OK – Two people have been charged following the discovery of nearly 70 grams of methamphetamine, firearms and drug-related items during a search of a Sayre residence.

Brandon Basil Cunningham, 46, of Cheyenne, and Michelle Pledger, 44, of Sayre, are each charged in Beckham County District Court with trafficking in illegal drugs (methamphetamine), maintaining a place for keeping or selling a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cunningham is also charged with possession of firearms after conviction or during probation and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana).

Pledger is additionally charged with possession of a firearm while on probation and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (methamphetamine).

According to a probable cause affidavit, authorities initially went to the residence in the 1300 block of North Broadway in Sayre while attempting to locate two people with outstanding felony warrants. The affidavit states Pledger consented to a search of the residence.

During the search, authorities allegedly observed a bowl containing suspected methamphetamine residue, a glass pipe, ammunition and a handgun concealed beneath a pillow. Digital scales, unused plastic baggies and a large quantity of a white crystalline substance were also reportedly found near the firearm.

After obtaining a search warrant, authorities allegedly recovered another handgun, ammunition, marijuana, smoking devices, digital scales, plastic baggies and two water pipes containing a liquid that field tested positive for methamphetamine.

The affidavit states prescription medication bottles bearing the names of Cunningham and Pledger, along with other personal belongings belonging to both, were found in the bedroom where the firearms, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were discovered.

The white crystalline substance reportedly field tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed approximately 69.5 grams. According to the affidavit, the quantity of methamphetamine, along with the scales, packaging materials and other items recovered, was consistent with drug trafficking rather than personal use.

The charges are allegations, and Cunningham and Pledger are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
