Brigadier General Colby Wyatt to Speak at Foss Lake Christmas in July Opening Ceremony

Foss Lake, OK – The organizers of Foss Lake Christmas in July have announced Brigadier General Colby Wyatt, Director of the Joint Staff for the Oklahoma National Guard, as the featured guest speaker for the festival's Opening Ceremony on Friday, July 10.

The ceremony begins at 7:30 p.m. at Foss State Park and will officially kick off the two day celebration honoring America's 250th anniversary while paying tribute to the nation's veterans.

A native of northwest Oklahoma, General Wyatt has served in the United States military for more than 30 years. As Director of the Joint Staff for the Oklahoma National Guard, he serves as the principal advisor on domestic operations and has held numerous leadership roles throughout his distinguished career.

General Wyatt has deployed in support of operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. His military service has earned him many prestigious awards, including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal.

Following the Opening Ceremony, attendees will also enjoy a Veteran Recognition Ceremony and a Flag Retirement Ceremony beginning at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Foss Lake Christmas in July continues Saturday, July 11, with a full day of family activities including a fun run, kayak races, rally poker run, duck tape boat race, water fight, poker run awards, live music featuring the Dean Jackson Band, and a fireworks show after dark. Food and shopping vendors will be available throughout the weekend.

The event encourages visitors to bring lawn chairs and spend the weekend celebrating America's 250th birthday while honoring the men and women who have served the country.
