Watonga, OK – A Watonga man is facing two felony counts of grand larceny after authorities say stolen oilfield equipment and vehicles were recovered from his property following an investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Custer County District Court, Daniel Ramirez-Martinez, 28, has been charged with two counts of grand larceny involving property belonging to an oilfield company near Thomas.
Investigators said an employee contacted the Custer County Sheriff’s Office on March 23 after discovering a Ford 770 diesel tractor had been stolen overnight from a yard in Custer County.
The employee also reported that a red 2019 Polaris ATV and a 12-foot tandem axle trailer had been missing for about a month, although the items were not immediately reported stolen because company officials were unsure whether an employee had possession of them. Authorities later obtained identifying information for the trailer, including a VIN number and Oklahoma tag.
According to the affidavit, investigators received information on March 27 that the stolen tractor, ATV and trailer were located at a residence in Watonga. The information was shared with Blaine County authorities, who obtained a search warrant for the property.
Court documents state deputies recovered the stolen property during the search. Investigators said Ramirez-Martinez later admitted during an interview that he stole the tractor, ATV and trailer from an oilfield yard near Thomas, along with additional property allegedly taken in Roger Mills County.
The charges were formally filed May 4 in Custer County District Court. If convicted, Ramirez-Martinez faces potential prison time, fines and restitution.
