Wellington, TX — Two defendants were sentenced to prison Wednesday in the 100th Judicial District Court in Collingsworth County after violating the terms of their probation.

Winfred Dale Lenz, 22, of Wellington, was sentenced to 18 years in prison for the second-degree felony offense of attempted aggravated sexual assault of a child. Lenz was originally arrested June 23, 2021.

Lenz had previously pleaded guilty on Jan. 14, 2025, and received two years of probation. The State later filed a motion to adjudicate on Sept. 17, 2025, alleging seven violations of his probation conditions. Lenz pleaded true to the allegations, resulting in the prison sentence. He was also ordered to pay the remaining $340 in court costs and a $500 fine.

In a separate case, Matthew Wayne Lee, 40, of Wellington, was sentenced to 18 months in a state jail facility for possession of a controlled substance, a state jail felony.

Lee had initially pleaded guilty on Sept. 21, 2023, and was placed on three years of probation. The State filed a motion to adjudicate on Jan. 26, alleging eight violations of his probation conditions. Lee pleaded true to those violations and was subsequently sentenced to prison. He was also ordered to pay $376 in court costs, a $180 lab fee, and a $1,500 fine.

Both sentences were issued following the defendants’ admissions to violating the terms set by the court.
