Weatherford, OK – Southwestern Oklahoma State University invites alumni, community members, and residents of Weatherford and the surrounding area to an open house for the Jerry and Margaret Hodge Center for Pharmacy and Rural Health on Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The open house will provide guests an opportunity to tour the facility and learn more about the center’s role in supporting pharmacy education, rural health, and service to western Oklahoma.

To make the day especially meaningful for the broader community, the event will also include a community Drug Take Back Event. Sponsored annually by the SWOSU student chapter of the American Pharmacists Association, the Drug Take Back Event allows community members to bring unwanted, unused, or expired prescription and non-prescription medications for collection by the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics.

The Drug Take Back Event is expected to be staged in the Hodge Center front parking lot or in the smaller northeast parking area.

The university dedicated the facility on Thursday, March 12, in a private ceremony recognizing the vision and generosity of Jerry and Margaret Hodge and the many partners who helped bring the project to life.

The April 25 open house will give residents, alumni, friends of the university, and area supporters the opportunity to see the new center firsthand and celebrate an important addition to the SWOSU campus.

This open house is an opportunity to welcome our community into a facility that reflects SWOSU’s commitment to education, service, and rural health,” Interim President Dr. Joel Kendall said. “We are grateful for the support that made this project possible and are proud to share this space with the community.”

Community members are invited to come and go during the event.
