Two Injured in Jackson County Crash on U.S. 283

Jackson County, OK – Two drivers were injured in a two-vehicle collision Thursday morning along U.S. Highway 283, approximately 10 miles south of Altus, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:15 a.m. on April 16, about one-tenth of a mile south of East County Road 1750.

According to the report, a northbound commercial motor vehicle driven by 54-year-old Aaron P. Richard of Wichita Falls, Texas, collided with a southbound vehicle driven by 61-year-old Gail Y. Varnell of Lone Wolf. The collision occurred in the northbound lane of U.S. 283.

After impact, both vehicles departed the roadway.

Both drivers were reported injured. No passengers were involved in the crash, and no fatalities were reported. Seatbelts were in use at the time of the collision.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol stated that next of kin have been notified. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
