OBN Serves Search Warrant at Beckham County Marijuana Business for Illegal Cultivation

The Penny News 1216

Sayre, OK – OBN’s Marijuana Enforcement Teams (MET) served a Search Warrant at YE Oriental Green 8866 in Sayre, Oklahoma as part of an ongoing investigation into illegal marijuana cultivation.

The investigation showed this business has been cultivating marijuana without having obtained an OBN Registration. There is also evidence they’ve been trafficking marijuana onto the black market from this location. Our MET Agents seized 7,286 plants and 181 pounds of processed marijuana. We also found illegal pesticides on the property that can be extremely harmful.” ——OBN Spokesman Mark Woodward

Four people were arrested and a fifth person was taken into custody by ICE Agents.

OBN MET was assisted by ICE, the Beckham County Sheriff’s Office, the Beckham County Commissioner’s Office, and the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture.

In 2021, OBN established full-time statewide Marijuana Enforcement Teams (OBN MET) to address the escalating presence of criminal organizations setting up marijuana operations in Oklahoma. OBN MET Agents have targeted operations tied to black market trafficking and obtaining an OBN Registration by fraud using 'straw ownership' schemes. At the end of 2022, 8,400 farms were operating with an active OBN Registration. As of today, that number stands at approximately 1,400 grows with an active OBN Registration.

Since 2022, OBN MET Agents have seized over 2.1 million illegal marijuana plants, more than 250,000 pounds of processed marijuana, and made over 400 arrests with additional arrests pending as many of these investigations remain ongoing.

Citizens can anonymously report criminal drug and human trafficking activity to OBN's tip-line at 800-522-8031 or sending OBN a Facebook DM.
