Roger Mills County, OK – A three-unit collision earlier this month in Roger Mills County resulted in injuries to a pedestrian attempting to assist a stranded vehicle.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 5:59 a.m. on March 2 at the intersection of State Highway 33 and County Road 840, 1 mile north of Roll.

Authorities report that a commercial vehicle was attempting to turn from County Road 840 onto SH-33 to travel westbound when it became stuck, blocking the roadway. A passerby, identified as 48-year-old Alexander T. Riggs of Norman, stopped to help the driver free the vehicle.

While Riggs was assisting, a second commercial vehicle traveling westbound on SH-33 struck the trailer of the disabled vehicle. The impact pushed the trailer into Riggs, causing injuries.

Riggs was reported injured at the scene. Both drivers involved in the collision were not injured.

Next of kin has been notified. The investigation remains ongoing.
