HAPPY UPDATE: Neglected Dog Finds New Home

The Penny News 12

A happy ending to an alleged case of animal cruelty out of Beckham County from last month.

Sheriff Derek Manning says after the discovery of four dogs at a home in Erick on September 16, it was found that three of the animals, all puppies, were suffering from severe parasite infestations and had to be humanely euthanized. However, Manning says one dog has found a new home.

“My deputy told me they found a home for that dog in Colorado. So somebody did reach out and take responsibility in taking care of that dog and we appreciate that.”

29-year-old Jacob Isaac Walker and 53-year-old Catherine Charnell Walker were charged with multiple counts of felony animal cruelty in the case.

Their next court date is scheduled for October 7.
