Michael Mendoza Announces Candidacy for Shamrock Mayor

Shamrock, TX – Michael Mendoza has announced his candidacy for Mayor of Shamrock in the upcoming municipal election scheduled for May 2, 2026.

Mendoza, branch manager at BOC Bank and a 12 year resident of Shamrock, said he is running on a platform focused on collaborative leadership, community service, and long term planning for the city. The mayor’s seat will be open this year after current mayor Lynn Ramsey announced he will not seek re election.

In a press release announcing his campaign, Mendoza said he hopes to serve as a steady voice for citizens while helping guide the city through its council manager form of government.

As mayor, I will work closely with our City Manager and Council members to ensure our city is handled with the same care I give to our customers’ accounts,” Mendoza said. “My experience at the bank has taught me how to manage risks and work with a team to get results.”

Mendoza previously managed the local grocery store for seven years and said his background in banking and business management has helped him develop skills in leadership, financial oversight, and long range planning.

He said he believes the mayor’s role in Shamrock is to help the city council set a clear and sustainable vision for the community’s future.

In a council manager system, the mayor must be a bridge builder,” Mendoza said.

Mendoza is also active in the community. He serves as a member of the Shamrock Volunteer Fire Department and participates in the Shamrock Sports Boosters, organizations he said help keep him connected to the needs of the community.

As a dad to three kids, you’ll usually find me at a sporting event or a school function when I’m not at the bank or the fire station,” Mendoza said. “Shamrock is a tight knit community where you see the same friendly faces everywhere. Those connections are important to me and they’re exactly why I want to serve this town as mayor.”

Mendoza and his wife, Lauren, are raising their three children, Rylan, Penelope, and Kalli, in Shamrock. He said his goal is to help ensure the city remains a place where future generations will want to stay and build their lives.

I’m not just asking for your vote,” Mendoza said. “I’m asking for the opportunity to represent your interests at City Hall. I’m ready to put my management experience to work for the town I love.”

Mendoza will face Kenneth Campbell in the race for mayor. Campbell previously announced his candidacy for the open seat earlier this year.

The Shamrock mayoral election will be held May 2, 2026.
