Celebrating 125 Years of Excellence at SWOSU

Weatherford, OK — On March 6, 2026, the SWOSU community will come together to celebrate an incredible milestone, 125 years of Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

For more than a century, SWOSU has been a place where tradition, innovation, and Bulldog pride come together to shape generations of students, faculty, staff, and alumni. This special anniversary gives us an opportunity to reflect on our rich history while celebrating the people who make our university strong today.

Birthday Celebration Details

The campus community is invited to join in the celebration with cake and festivities from 11 a.m. –1 p.m.

  • Cake and party favors will be provided

  • Cake will be served under the clock tower outside the Student Union

  • At noon, a commemorative community photo will be taken at the Bulldog statue near the Al Harris Library and the Student Union

All students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of SWOSU are encouraged to attend and help us capture this historic moment together.

Photo Opportunities

Throughout the day, members of the SWOSU community will also have the chance to celebrate with special photo opportunities. A “Happy 125th Birthday SWOSU” yard sign will be located outside the John Hays Administration Building, providing a fun backdrop to mark this milestone year.

As we honor 125 years of SWOSU, we celebrate the enduring legacy of learning, service, leadership, and community that continues to define who we are. This birthday celebration is a moment to recognize our shared history and the bright future ahead for Bulldog Nation.
