SWOSU Announces 2025-2026 World Languages Scholars

Weatherford, OK – Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) has selected the SWOSU World Languages Scholars for the 2025-2026 Academic Year. These scholarships benefit students studying in the Department of Language & Literature who have designated World Languages as a minor degree component.

Gabriel Piccolella, Aquetzalli Herrera, Karia Brown, Leonel Lora, Adrianna Teal, Bentlee Lindsey, Kylie Warren, and Lucas Punneo are the latest scholars to receive these awards which are funded through a collaboration among the SWOSU Foundation, Inc.; the Weatherford Rotary Club; and Reid Newspapers.

  • Gabriel Piccolella is a freshman studying nursing from Weatherford, Oklahoma.

  • Aquetzalli Herrera is a senior majoring in Accounting and Finance from Hooker, Oklahoma.

  • Kaira Brown is a freshman from Sidney, Australia, majoring in Health Science.

  • Leonel Lora is a junior with a major in Biomedical Science from Ringwood, Oklahoma.

  • Adrianna Teal is a senior studying Park and Wildlife Law Enforcement from Oklahoma City.

  • Bentlee Lindsey is a sophomore majoring in Nursing from Newcastle, Oklahoma.

  • Kylie Warren is a sophomore studying Political Science from Hydro, Oklahoma.

  • Lucas Punneo is a sophomore majoring in Political Science from Yukon, Oklahoma.

The SWOSU World Languages Scholarships are awarded each semester to students enrolled in the World Languages Program at SWOSU. The program can be completed with five language courses, and it also offers a 100% online option.
