Free Family Fun Returns to Ackley Park
The KECO Kids Fishing Derby & Family Fun Day is one of Elk City's most anticipated summer traditions. Families from across Western Oklahoma gather at Ackley Park each year for a day of fishing, outdoor recreation, and community fun. The event is designed to introduce young anglers to fishing while creating lasting family memories.
Fishing Derby for Kids Ages 0-15
Children ages 0 through 15 can participate in the fishing derby tournament at Ackley Park East from 8 AM until Noon. Young anglers will have opportunities to catch fish, compete for prizes, and enjoy the excitement of outdoor recreation in a safe and family-friendly environment. No registration fees are required, making it accessible for everyone.
Free Loaner Poles and Bait Available
Families who do not have fishing equipment can still participate. The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation and Totally Outdoors will provide loaner fishing poles and worms on a first come, first served basis. This helps ensure every child has the opportunity to experience the fun of fishing.
Prizes, Giveaways, and Fishing License Drawings
Throughout the event, participants can compete for hourly biggest fish prizes worth $100. Families can also enter drawings for lifetime fishing licenses and other special giveaways. Additional prizes and free food make the event a favorite summer attraction for local families.
Family Fun Activities After the Derby
Following the fishing tournament, families can enjoy free activities in the park from Noon until 2 PM. Attractions include carousel rides and putt putt golf, creating a full day of entertainment for children and adults alike. The combination of fishing, games, and community fellowship makes this one of Elk City's premier family events.
Community Sponsors Support Local Families
The KECO Kids Fishing Derby & Family Fun Day is made possible through the support of local businesses and community sponsors. Their involvement helps provide free activities, prizes, food, and educational outdoor experiences for children throughout Western Oklahoma.
